Nina recently had to point out how awesome our client Shelley has been doing lately:
Shelley is one of our lovely trio clients who has been coming consistently for many years. She is a familiar face in mat class and by coming to the studio frequently, has gained strength and stability in her body that tends to be on the hyper mobile side. She is always engaged and up for trying new things so when she decided to upgrade to a Private session, I was excited as her teacher to have her experience some new exercises on the Cadillac.
One of the great things about a private session versus a group session is that we were able to take some time to talk about what her body was looking for that day. She requested that she would love to feel her hamstrings as she often struggles to feel strength there. We tried an exercise called “Magician”, which is a version of Leg Springs but with the spring on a higher setting so that as you do Frog, Circles and Scissor movements with the legs your body is floating in a plank and the work brings your leg behind your pelvis, firing the hamstrings and glutes…She loved it!
She also requested something she had seen someone do but never tried, hanging upside down in the fuzzy foot straps. This basically provides a delicious ending traction for your body. It takes some help to get into so really can’t be done in a group. She walked away feeling long and relaxed with a smile on her face ~ Success!

I started working out at reFORM several years ago. When I first started I bought the trio package and took advantage of the accompanying free mat classes a few times a week. The reform staff and classical Pilates routine transformed my body!

Fast forward a few years, I’m back on track and currently doing the May challenge (attend 20x this month and get a special goody)! I still do trios, but I’ve been attending mat classes 4-5x a week and take advantage of private sessions as well.Â

Private sessions are my favorite because I’m able to ask for what my body needs that day. I can work on perfecting things I’ve been struggling with in mat classes, or try new equipment and discover new things! The teachers notice every body’s individual quirks and they’re able to focus in on queues that a helpful for your development. I can’t even explain how fun it is to connect with your body in new ways and do things you never thought you’d be capable of on your first day! I owe a lot of happiness and body comfort to the reFORM staff and private sessions!
